Job expectations have increased and become more complex and compensation and benefits must reflect these added expectations. The Edmonds Education Association believes the Edmonds School District must remain competitive with surrounding districts to attract and retain quality staff.

  • How can we remain competitive with surrounding districts?
  • How can we maximize use of current benefit dollars?
  • How can we maximize use of current contract provisions?
  • How can we ensure that students have materials they need to be successful?
  • How can we provide monetary relief or time for major additions to workload?

The Edmonds Education Association believes that addressing the ever-increasing workload is crucial for employees to successfully meet national, state and district expectations.

  • How do we address workload issues for all educators?
  • How do we increase self-directed individual time?
  • How do we maximize the workday and improve scheduling to increase planning time?
  • How do we provide time to begin and end the school year effectively?
  • How do we provide a fair process related to opening and closing schools?
  • How do we improve and broaden current language to deal with high needs students?
  • How do we address the impact of split classes?

The Edmonds Education Association believes that reasonable class size/caseloads are necessary for an effective learning enviroment and to remain competitive with surrounding districts.
