The UniServ program was enacted by delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly about 30 years ago. UniServ Councils were formed to deliver programs locally by trained, hired, professional staff called UniServ reps. UniServ Councils are regional offices in most cases working with many local Associations. Washington has 22 UniServ Councils. UniServ reps are WEA employees asigned to the councils on a numerical basis.
The Edmonds Education Association is part of the WEA Cascade UniServ Council (Cascade). Cascade represents all of the WEA locals, certificated and classified, in the Edmonds, Northshore and Shoreline School Districts. The Council office is in Bothell and has 5 WEA employees. Dave Wood, Cascade UniServ rep, is one of those employees but is assigned to EEA and is housed in the EEA office. He represents EEA, Edmonds coaches, and the Shoreline Children's Center which is part of the Shoreline School District. He also is the lead rep for political action and lobbying activities for the Council. |
