Levy Update
July 18, 2010
EEA Members
Many thanks to all of you who have already volunteered for a phone calling shift for the August 17th supplemental levy. However, I’m still in need of many more volunteers! Please check your schedule—if you are free one of the 4 evenings that we are phone calling we REALLY NEED YOUR HELP.
Phone calling takes place at the EEA office (19707 64th Avenue West, Suite 204, Lynnwood). The calls are to voters who have been identified as education supporters, reminding them of the importance of the levy and to return their ballot. They are not difficult calls where you have to try to convince someone to vote fore the levy or where folks are generally rude or mean—most of the time people are overwhelmingly supportive.
The biggest overall workload relief piece of our tentative agreement is contingent on the levy passing, so all EEA members have a lot at stake in this election. Also, the $7 – 8 million additional funds the levy provides each year will also help mitigate any further reductions by the State or Federal government in the upcoming year, and it may even allow us to restore some cut positions and/or programs.
Below are the evenings, times, and number of volunteers I still need:
- Wednesday, 8/4
- 5:00 – 6:30—5 volunteers needed
- 6:30 – 8:00—9 volunteers needed
- Thursday, 8/5
- 5:00 – 6:30—7 volunteers needed
- 6:30 – 8:00—9 volunteers needed
- Wednesday, 8/11
- 5:00 – 6:30—7 volunteers needed
- 6:30 – 8:00—9 volunteers needed
- Thursday, 8/12
- 5:00 – 6:30—8 volunteers needed
- 6:30 – 8:00—9 volunteers needed
Please reply to this email and let me know the date and time that you are willing to volunteer. I will confirm with you and send out a reminder a few days before the event!
Thanks for your willingness to help out!
